Local film maker Terry Tkachuk is testing the waters to see whether anyone would be interested in helping him form a documentary film making group in the Bridport area.

Time to catch up with Guy Mallinsons woodwork workshops; if you do not already know Guy runs fantastic courses in green woodworking in wonderful surroundings, these courses are an ideal gift for a creative freind or splendid taster to treat yourself to something you always wanted to try your hand at.

axe throwerAs a sideline to Guy Mallinsons green woodwork courses you can also have a go at axe throwing using Swedish double-bitted two-handed overhead axe, the target is a huge softwood round hoisted in position with an official competition spec 'regulation' target painted on to it. From exactly 20ft (and all going well) the axe lands cleanly into the target with a very enjoyable thud. There are a simple set of rules - absolutely no axe catching or live target practice is permitted!

Visitors to The Book Shop or West Street Post Office may well have seen for sale the new hardback Palmers – The Story of a Dorset Brewer.  More than just a family history or the chronicles of a regional company, it is very much a tribute to brewing in Bridport and the two hundred year old relationship between a very British industry and its local community.

Totem pole carving courses in Dorset Karen Hansen designs with natural form and sustainable materials to create contemporary furniture and sculptural constructions.

As part of her sculptural work she is now offering workshops in Totem pole carving. The range of courses is open to most ages and abilities. Some sessions are specifically designed for families to be able to work together on communal poles and create their family crest or celebrate a special occasion.
