rope-walkOn Sunday 13th May between 11am – 4pm Bridport Museum will be celebrating the town’s ancient rope-making heritage with the annual Ropewalk Fair.

The Millenium Green will be abuzz with live music from local bands, food stalls, rope, net and craft demonstrations and sporting activities such as tennis and football in the arena. There will be opportunities to try out commando style training under an obstacle net, tug of war and many other fun events including local organisations showcasing their activities.

2018 marks 100 years since the end of the First World War, and this year’s theme will focus on how Bridport’s rope and net making industry contributed to the war effort.

Did you know that the town produced over a million hay-nets as well as rifle pulls, camouflage nets and anti- submarine nets?

There really will be something for everyone, and all proceeds go towards helping to keep the Museum free for everyone.

Don’t forget to put the date in your diary and look out for further information on the Museum website and Facebook page, in the local press, and the printed programme which be available from the Museum and TIC very soon.
