The stereoscopic photo of Askers Roadhouse below is actually a glass slide. It was sent in by Derek Barnsley who says "All I know about it is that it was taken on someones family holiday to Wales and the West Country in either 1934 or 1935".

I can remember some fab Raves here in the 80's, frequent Police visits, long walks home, then the fire! I was always told it was a favorite with swingers and the like, after all it's a long way to go to walk your dog!!

My father ran away from home in Blackheath in the West Midlands during the 1930's
He was employed in all aspects of the business. He allwaysw spoke fondly of the people and times he remembered there and only returned home because my gran took ill.

Wow! I just did a search for Askers Roadhouse having been past the area just today. We often drive that road and I often wondered if there is anything to record this place!

Back in the day I was working with Pete & Esme as lighting, roadie etc!!

There was an event at the Pavilion earlier this year to remember Pete & Esme (Es died earlier this year....2015)...The event was very well attended and a great time to recall the days of the Showband....Details are on Facebook and if you want to see the details find the Over 30 and from Weymouth group

Bye for now

Mike
