Weldmar-ColourRunGroupDorset’s Brightest Weekend is BACK and bigger than ever in 2018!

One of Weymouth’s biggest fundraising events is returning in 2018 - this year with a new twist! Weldmar Hospicecare’s fourth Colour Run will be held on Saturday 12th May, where 1,500 people will scramble up/over/through ten inflatable obstacles. Participants will also run through Colour Stations along the course, getting covered in brightly coloured powder paint as they pass through.

The sponsor for this year’s Colour Run is Magicard and they will have their very own colour station. Magicard is one of Weymouth’s largest employers. Based on the Granby Industrial Estate in Weymouth, they are a pioneer of ID card printing with a range of desktop devices for every secure ID card issuance requirement.

Debbie Clark, Magicard’s HR Manager, said: “We’re delighted to be able to support the Colour Run this year. Weldmar Hospicecare is such a worthy cause in Dorset and we’re happy to be able to help with their fundraising efforts.

“The Colour Run is always a fun day out for friends and family alike. We think it’s brilliant that runners of all abilities can take part and get colourful whilst also raising money for such a great charity. We will be entering some of our team into the race and asking for volunteers, but we can’t wait to see how everyone gets on”.

Day two of Dorset’s Brightest weekend, will see the return of Weldmar’s popular Bubble Rush, on Sunday 13th May. Participants pass through various bubble stations as they run their way through corridors of brightly coloured foam. This event also has the capacity for 1,500 participants and organisers believe both events are going to sell out.

Clair Walker, Weldmar’s Major Events Fundraiser, said “We are extremely excited to be bringing Dorset’s Brightest Weekend back to Lodmoor Country Park in May 2018. The atmosphere and feedback from last year’s weekend was just phenomenal and we are pleased that this event is able to return in May. We have slightly revised the route for 2018 – thanks to our friends at Weymouth Rugby Club - to make the routes even more action packed!”.

As well as the main runs, Weldmar will be turning the events area of Lodmoor Country Park into a family fun weekend. There will be live music throughout each day, along with delicious Dorset food and drink on sale, and fun for children of all ages.

Clair said “Every year we have people who would like to take part but haven’t registered in time - so we do recommend that you get registered nice and early to avoid disappointment. The added advantage is that you will be able to book at our special early bird rate of £18 for those 14 years old and over, and £11 for children aged 5 to 13 years old, if you book your place before Wednesday 14th February. Both events are free for children under 5 – but they must be registered to take part”.

Registration is open now - and both the Colour Run and Bubble Rush are open to all ages to participate.

All the money raised from the 2018 Colour Run and Bubble Rush will go towards funding the continuation of high quality and outstanding end of life care that Weldmar provides to patients, and the support for their loved ones, throughout Dorset. Last year the event raised over £95,000 and this year it is hoped that even more can be raised thanks to the generosity of the participants and their sponsors.
