plain-pullOrganisers are delighted to announce the return of one of the county s most unique yet original fundraising events based at Bournemouth Airport.  This year will see the Dorset Plane Pull celebrate it s 10th Birthday. The fundraising event founded in 2009 challenges teams of 20 to pull a 35,000kg aircraft a distance of 50 meters all in aid of raising funds for good causes.

Since its inception the event has raised over  130,000 for a variety of charities ranging from large national organisations to local community projects.

Co-founder and organiser Richard Griffin says  The 2018 event has already built great momentum, 21 teams are confirmed so far with numerous others making contact, we expect this year to be our busiest ever and hopefully we can push our fundraising total past  150,000

The event which will take place on Monday 27th August (bank holiday) will be hosted by European Skybus at Bournemouth Airport from 10:00am. Twelve Charities have been confirmed as event beneficiaries and these include Amelia s Rainbow, CharcotMarie-Tooth UK, Dreamflight, Dorset Cancer Care Foundation, The Ed Kent Trust, Home Start, The Isabel Baker Foundation, John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation, Julia s House, Motor Neurone Disease Association, Novaturient International and Parkinson s UK.

National and local businesses have committed to support the day with the 35,000kg Boeing 737 being provided by local aviation firm European Skybus.

All beneficiary charities are now seeking teams to take part and pull on their behalf. The day provides fun for not just the participants but also their supporters not pulling. Entertainment, food, drinks and stalls are all on site to keep all amused and entry to the site is free. Activities for younger visitors includes shows, balloon modelling and inflatable fun. To celebrate 10 years the organisers are keen to set a new Guinness World Record and are actively seeking corporate financial support to try and achieve this.
