bobBridport’s iconic Electric Palace Theatre is up for sale. Owner Peter Hitchin has decided to call it a day after running the entertainment venue for the past seven years.

It goes on the market with Savills in September with a price tag of £550,000
Mr Hitchin said: “It’s been an enjoyable business to own but it’s a ‘lifestyle’ business which needs new enthusiasm and commitment. I’m looking for the right person or company to take it over.

Museum-VolunteersBridport Museum awarded full Arts Council Accreditation status. Bridport Museum was extremely happy to find out last week that it has again achieved full Museum Accreditation status.

Accreditation is managed by Arts Council England, the body responsible for setting the nationally agreed set of standards required of Museums. Bridport Museum first achieved Accreditation in 2009, but it is reviewed approximately every 3 years, with its progress being tracked in great detail.

Second homes are no longer acceptable in rural and coastal communities (like Bridport) that have severe housing shortages. Less than two thirds of the homes the South West needs each year are being built and the lack of supply is pushing up the region's house prices and rents.
