dave_laughStompin’ Dave Allen returns to Bridport Electric Palace on Thursday 11th August.  Described by Maverick Magazine as “one of the world's greatest performers“, Stompin' Dave performs bluegrass, blues, vintage country, folk and rock ‘n’ roll. He sings and plays guitar, banjo, fiddle, harmonica, piano and tap dances in an old-time flat-footing style, often whilst playing an instrument.

With twenty five years of performing experience Dave has worked exclusively as a musician and performed across the UK and beyond including major festivals such as Glastonbury, Bestival, and Camp Bestival, etc.

playarea_dorset_policeThe concept of a "teenage playground" was developed as part of the first SUMMENTOR – a Summer mentoring project focusing on local junior school leavers who, it was felt, would struggle with the transition to Senior School. Involving children who were disadvantaged, the victims of bullying and rural isolation and, in some cases, with a disability, they were mentored by students from the Sir John Colfox Academy for three weeks over the Summer of 2006.

The Great Dorset Chilli Festival - Wimborne St Giles, Dorset Food Festival!

chillifestThe festival will be held on the last weekend in July 2016 (Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st July) and we are looking forward to another great day out for chilli enthusiasts, food lovers and families. To be held with the kind permission of the Earl of Shaftesbury at St Giles Park, we’re lining up a glorious weekend of “chilli fiesta”, with stalls selling all things chilli, from pepper plants to cayenne condiments; seeds to ceramics; plus cooking demonstrations; talks on growing chillies; artisan food producers; music; spicy street food; local ice creams to cool the mouth; local beers to slake the thirst.
