The bells of St Mary's in South Street are a complete eight by Mears of 1924, replacing a Warner eight of 1887. It is said that they were one of the last old style rings to be cast – Mears moved to true-harmonic tuning in 1926.

The Brothers Grimmer are two older young men and two younger men who get together regularly to try and write some good tunes. With a new bass player, Shawn they have been working and jammin' a lot to get all the new bass lines and guitars recorded for their first album, The Blue Book, which you can have a taste of here.

Pete Dicks is the disc jockey behind the the longest running UK Beatles radio show "BeatlesandBeyond" featuring well known and not so well known numbers by the Fab Four and their many tribute bands and you can listen live online now.
A coalition of shops, market traders, charity shops and pubs are organising "Vinyl Saturday Bridport" on the 15th November with the aim of promoting Bridport as a place to visit for Record Collectors. Record Collecting has seen a great resuurgance in the last 18 months and we hope to add to the attractions of visiting Bridport and the area in general.
The Day of the Badger is finally upon us! “What’s he talking about?” I hear you ask, well I'll tell you; our favourite Dorset band Who’s Afear’d have produced a new CD entitled The Day of the Badger which is full of hilarious songs. It is packed in a delightfully illustrated CD and case and is full of old songs with new lyrics for you to sing and dance to.
Ozone Terrace get their name from that unassuming little street near the Cobb in Lyme. They are a diverse bunch of musicians with eclectic tastes who pull it all together to perform a tight and melodic sound which is as unique as it is accessible. Have a listen and see what you think.
Thanks to John at the Ropemakers for introducing "Smack La" a great band from Marseilles, France to Bridport. They have been likened to a cross between the Buzzcocks and The Stooges. They have plenty of energy and a great rocking out sound. Have a listen for yourself.
Robodub is musician Simon Mathewson. Originally from Bridport he now lives in Exeter. He’s been making electronic Dub for over 10 years but has only recently decided he’d like to go live and has played in Exeter Arts Centre and Café Concrete in Plymouth.

Nutmeg are Matthew Oakley and Simon Mathewson, two Exeter based musicians (Simon is originally from Bridport). Matthew came up for the idea of Nutmeg after hearing psychedelic medieval folksters Circulus. Nutmeg are a 70’s folk/prog parody band, but done with love and respect of the genres.
Rachael Roberts and Alex Swift met whilst working at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios in the beautiful Wiltshire countryside. Realising they had similar musical tastes they decided to collaborate and the album Quietude is the result. It’s a lush blend of electronica combined with the organic tones of strings and clarinet and a sweet vocal narrative.

Local boy Chris Good plays Bass and vocals in the band 'Device' who are fast becoming one of the true ’must see’ bands on the hotly-contested London scene.
Naked And The Boys. The band is fronted by singer / songwriter Jack Berkeley who comes from Bridport.

Chicken Boy from Band On (The people who put on those rocking events at Evershot village hall) has brought to my attention this ace music blog, run by a guy called Joe who's originally from Dorch it's called The White Noise Revisited.
TheJOE PUBLIC Veterans of over 300 live shows, these four eighteen year olds are already creating a buzz in the music scene, and with over 100,000 plays on the MySpace page, the excitement is spreading!

The MONGOS landed in Bridport last night. The landing was flawless.
All I know about Mongo Lounge is that they live in Sweden, in the woods. The 4 piece is made up of Drums (Freddy James), Synth & Hammond (Lenny Picko), Bass (Coby Roberts) and the mesmerizing Shazzie Monroe on Vocals.
Formed back in the 80s (that's right kids, the 80s) on the sunny isle of Bermuda by songwriter/bassist/drum programmer George D. (aka "Geo) and his friend/ guitarist/ singer Greg B. After moving to the States to marry his Queen, Geo settled down in the music mecca that is Littleton Ma and searched for kindred souls. Just so happened Mike A., singer/ songwriter/ guitarist/ keyboardist was working as a waiter in the very same restaurant as Geo, a quick call and Greg flew up and SWD II was launched.
No Fixed Abode are singer/songwriter team Una Walsh (vocals) and Tony Dean (acoustic guitar) who put themselves in the category of "alternative/indie/folk rock" have recently released an album called "Clearwater" Have a listen….

Saturday 21st April Evershot saw the much anticipated return of Battle of the Bands! The six bands played to a packed hall. Our three professional music judges faced an impossible challenge as all the bands were well rehearsed and confident on stage and sounding brilliant thanks to our old friends Richard and Henry from MES sound.
