59,577 pints of Palmers Dorset Gold have been sold with 5p from each pint going to The Chesil Trust charity which enables children to go sailing for just £5. In one year a total of £2978.85 has been raised for this worthy cause.
Cleeves Palmer, owner of brewery, said: “We’re thrilled to be involved with what is a great charity and we hope to be involved for many years to come.”
Emma Dawson, chief Instructor and community sports coach for SailLaser, said more than 3,000 youngsters had sailed for £5 in the last four years from Dorset schools and further afield, including Somerset.
John Harvey, a trustee of the trust, said: “It’s been really successful and becoming more popular with a lot of kids getting out on the water.”
Peter Hopford also donated £400 on behalf of Weymouth Sailing Club.
