Miss Haversham’s Ghosts

Good food, wine and ghost stories by the fire at Symondsbury Manor

Join us at candle-lit Symondsbury Manor for ‘Miss Haversham’s Ghosts’, written and performed by Trish Knight Webb, followed by a two course supper for just £35 on Thursday December 13 at 6.30pm.

A candle-lit wood panelled ballroom in a Dorset manor house is the perfect setting for this Dickensian treat. Actor and author Trish Knight Webb presents her one-woman show in which the memorable Miss Haversham from Great Expectations recalls her past, remembering the betrayal of her fiancé and the revenge she has taken out on Pip and her foster daughter, Estella.

Trish has been described as ‘a seasoned pro’: following her training at the RSC she has acted and directed for many years, setting up the Festival Players Theatre Company in 1986, of which she was artistic director until 2002. Her TV appearances have recently included Doc Martin. In 2010 Trish took Miss Haversham’s Ghosts to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and received rave reviews.

Your evening begins at 6.30pm with a complementary glass of mulled wine before taking your seats in the ballroom at 7pm for the 40 minute performance. A hearty 2 course supper will then be served, prepared by one of Dorset’s favourite cooks. Wine will be available to buy, plus bottles of champagne if you’re feeling in the Christmas spirit! And who wouldn’t be? Good food and ghost stories by the fire have been part of Christmas since Charles Dickens’ day!

Space is limited so book soon –  please phone Peter or Lindsay on 01308 456288.
