Shoes in the Michelin

For the second year running, The Three Horseshoes in Powerstock has made it into the world’s most prestigious restaurant guide, The Michelin Guide Great Britain and Ireland 2013.

The Guide, whose annual launch is considered to be the Oscars of the food world is also the key yardstick by which restaurants in the UK are judged.

Karl Bashford, who has been the Landlord and Chef at the Three Horseshoes since taking the establishment over three years ago, commented
“We are delighted to hear that we have maintained our presence in the Guide for a second year.  Inclusion in this publication really makes a tangible difference to our business.  Being in a very rural location means that people have to really make the effort to come and eat here.  A recommendation in The Michelin Guide will persuade them to go that extra mile”.

Karl has developed a widespread reputation in Dorset for his inventive culinary skills which he has perfected over a career that has spanned several years.  He has adopted a signature style, which combines real pub grub with a gourmet twist.  Pies are a big speciality   he s introducing a Pithivier for the Christmas menu – and his triple cooked chips are legendary amongst the local community.  Karl tends his own vegetable garden and also forages for a number of his ingredients in the surrounding countryside. He is passionate about provenance and will only purchase and serve produce that is actually grown and/or reared  in the immediate vicinity.

The Three Horseshoes is located in Powerstock, a rural idyll in the heart of undulating countryside in West Dorset, with spectacular view across the valley.  The establishment also offers three spacious bed and breakfast suites.
