This month’s ‘Hip Hop’ theme promises to satisfy those looking for a party night of classic MC beats and scratch as part of the monthly Hi-Life club nights.
Contraband Breaks Ensemble are a top drawer high energy band, who with two MC’s, promise to create a party atmosphere at the Electric Palace this Saturday night.
Their continuous medley of golden era hip hop (see Public Enemy & LL Cool J) has been likened to bands such as Breakestra and J5. Since supporting Arrested Development in 2011 the band have been in great demand, not least for their rotation of high quality MC’s from Bristol’s club scene. Line up includes Drums, bass, keys, guitar, scratch DJ and 2 MCs.
This well-seasoned crew have more than mastered the tricky art of live hip-hop, combining MCs, decks and real-time musicianship into something fresh and highly danceable. With an ever-changing line-up and who-knows-who guesting, a party night for hip-hop fans is assured.
Live music starts at 11 pm, followed by DJ sets by local boys DJ LA, Lewis Ahmet and The Napkings. £5 on the door.
