Jill Kennington Exhibition

Photography defines Jill Kennington, in her roles both behind and in front of the camera. Abandoning her modelling career in the early 80’s for photography, she created some iconic images of the swinging 60’s heroes – Warhol, Omar Sharif, Lord Snowdon and many more. Although portraiture has been a constant, notably making no distinction between the celebrity and the humble, her beautiful, evocative landscape photographs are deeply personal. Through the spareness of black and white images, stripped of colour and cliché, she gently unpeels the vulnerability of her subject, whether a tree or a person, creating genuine empathy between observed and observer.
