What Are Mummers?

Mummers as they are known, were also a traditional part of every Christmas in Dorset. A group of mummers would go to various homes and public houses and in return for their performance would be given food and drink. The theme used by the mummers is usually that of the fight between St George and his foreign adversary, the King of Egypt. One actor usually takes the part of Father Christmas.
