So what’s in a name? The name Bucky Doo can be traced to “Bocardo” a name given by medieval logicians to a categorical syllogism whose standard form has the mood and figure designated as OAO-3. Which is applied to a prison because just as a Bocardo syllogism always ended up in a final negative, so did a compulsory visit to the Bocardo lock-up generally mean a closer aquaintance with ‘the Bridport dagger’ and a final negative to the drama of life.

It’s that time to resurrect the Seagull issue again. They screech 24/7, disassemble dustbins, befoul our cars, buildings and washing lines and are generally considered a pest. Ray was born in Weymouth in 1947 but spent many years in Devon before moving back to Dorset in 1991. After leaving Grammar school he studied fine art at Plymouth Art College. Whilst at college, Ray exhibited at the Penwith Gallery in St. Ives alongside Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth and others.
