West Dorset District Council, Sex Establishment Policy – Consultation

Due to a recent change in legislation West Dorset District Council has resolved to develop a policy on sex establishments.  This will cover the licensing and regulation of sex entertainment venues (i.e. lap dancing and pole dancing clubs), sex shops and sex cinemas.

West Dorset District Council is undertaking an 8 week public consultation on the draft policy for sex establishments, between 3rd August 2010 and 28th September 2010. The policy will come into effect on the adoption of the legislation.

The consultation and policy document can be viewed at http://www.dorsetforyou.com/384925

Your contribution is important to us in deciding the final content of our policy and all comments shall be considered, although we may not be able to respond individually to each comment.

Moral objections will not be taken into consideration.

The Council does not take a moral stand in adopting this policy and recognises that Parliament has made it lawful to operate a sex establishment, and that such businesses are a legitimate part of the retail and leisure industries. It is the role of the licensing authority to administer the licensing regime in accordance with the law. Moral objections will therefore not be taken into consideration.

If you wish to submit any comments on the content of the policy, these should be made in writing by 5pm on 28th September 2010 to:
