Coast Unearthed

Coast Unearthed exhibition is a hit with all ages

Bridport Arts Centre has unveiled a new exhibition of prints and paintings by Jeremy Gardiner and Amanda Wallwork and it has proved to be a hit with visitors of all ages.

The exhibition examines the rocks and strata that form the hidden landscape of Dorset’s Jurassic Coast and seeks to express the unimaginable vastness of geological timescales. Although it’s generally accepted that the earth is billions of years old, it is still a challenge to the imagination to try and understand the scale of the age of the world.  In very different ways, both artists are opening a window to the past and mysteries that lie under our feet.

There has been a steady flow of visitors since the exhibitions opening who have been delighted by the beautiful detail in Jeremy Gardiner’s prints and by the evocative colours of Amanda Wallwork’s paintings. One visitor commented “I loved the wonderful colours and ideas behind the project so much that I stayed for two hours”.

Coast Unearthed will run until 11 August, The Allsop Galery is open Tuesdays – Saturdays 10am – 4pm, entry is free.
