The Idiosyncratic Paintings of David Brooke – An art exhibition at the Electric Palace from Mon 18th January to Sat 30th January
A mixture of fantasy and mythology, David Brooke's paintings are all created in a precise, detailed hand, his pictures take many weeks to create as they are collected widely in this country and abroad. The main feature of his pictures is always the human figure, often in action and generally stylized. Some images are straight forward; people walking the coastal path or flying kites, others are more unusual; plants which are part human or an angel biting you on the toes. Recently David has been researching his family history and some of the paintings are imagined depictions of his ancestors.
One of the large scale panels in the ElectricPalace Cinema, that of the pied piper type figure walking on the backs of fish, was painted by David.
