George Wright Photographic Exhibition upstairs at the Beach and Barnicott, South Street on Thursday 11th November from 4-7pm
Come and see this wonderful collection. If you can’t make the opening night the collection will be on show upstairs at Beach & Barnicott until the end of December.
For the last twenty five years the photographer George Wright has been photographing the landscape and inhabitants of Dorset, his adopted home.
His book Vanishing Dorset is the first time that photographs from his archive have been brought together in one volume, and together they form a fascinating insight into the people and places that have changed beyond recognition or disappeared completely. From farmhouse interiors, unchanged for centuries, to smallholders whose way of life has all but gone for good, Vanishing Dorset is an important record of those things that have been lost in a comparatively short period of time George Wright has produced a large number of portraits of the great, the good and the less well known.
Some People I’ve Metbrings some of these people together for the first time in one volume, and includes these from the South West:
