Join the New Elizabethan Singers and their guest soloists for the day as they rehearse and perform the best-loved choruses from Handel’s greatest masterpiece, “Messiah”.
On Saturday December 9, NES are hosting a “Come-and-Sing” to raise funds for the repair of the roof of St. Mary’s Church in Bridport.
“St. Mary’s is very important both to the New Elizabethans and to Bridport in general” says Sandra Brown, the NES Chairman. “Many of our performances are held there and we want to help to raise some of the £100,000 needed for urgent repairs”.
“It’s a great opportunity for people to experience singing wonderful music in a big choir” says Matt Kingston, the New Elizabethan’s Musical Director. “I’m not sure if we’ll raise the roof but this is probably the best time to try.”
Experienced singers, members of other choirs, and novices who want to give it a try are all welcome. NES can provide scores for those who don’t have their own. They can also provide training aids for anyone who needs help to practise their part. The entry fee is £10, including light refreshments, and rehearsals start in the church at 3pm.
The performance is at 6pm, again in St. Mary’s Church. Entry is free, everyone is welcome and there will be a retiring Roof Appeal collection.
