"Openings” is the intriguing title for a new art exhibition by Stephen Bishop at Eype Church Centre for the Arts near Bridport. Stephen is well known for his en plein oil paintings of the Dorset Coast. His paintings are often completed within view of the sea. Stephen has a great passion for Flamenco and has been visiting Jerez de la frontera in Southern Spain for over 8 years. Jerez is known as part of the cradle of Flamenco and is famous for sherry and the Andulucian horse School.
“Openings” features Spanish inspired work from the new Jerez series of paintings. These are figurative abstract works which will delight people that are new to this artist, as well as his regular following. The paintings are fresh, energetic and capture the spirit of the old gypsy barrios of Jerez. As well as the exuberance and feeling of Flamenco. The exhibition will also include Stephen’s latest Dorset inspired landscapes.
The “Openings” exhibition is open daily to the public from Saturday 6 June to Sunday 21 June, admission is free. Mon – Frid 10.30am – 4.30pm, Sat & Sun 10.00am – 5.00pm.
