West Dorset Chiropractic Centre

Chiropractic care for people and animals. West Dorset Chiropractic Centre is based on the high street in Bridport town centre, providing natural, evidence based chiropractic therapy for the local community of Bridport and surrounding areas. The animal practice is based at Haydon Veterinary Centre just up the road!

Here you will find that you are treated as a person and not a set of symptoms. Everything is explained in detail as you go and you will be encouraged to take part in the process of re-establishing your well-being.

We specialise in taking care of individuals aged from a few weeks to a hundred years, with back neck and shoulder problems, leg pain, sciatica, joints and muscles as well as sports injuries. We can often also help with migraine and headaches, and can improve infant colic.

We offer different types of care. Some people just want relief from their immediate pain so we start by finding out how your problem is affecting your life and try to discover what is causing it, then work out a care plan with you to produce the fastest possible results, including ways in which you can help your own recovery. If you feel you would like ongoing wellness care to keep you in the best of health and to detect early problems before they become symptomatic so that you can function at your best.

Also on offer are complementary therapies of Aromatherapy Massage, Indian Head Massage, Bach Flower Remedies and Manual Lymphatic Drainage.

Animal Clinic

The animal clinic is run in conjunction with the vets for treatment of pets.

WDChiropractic_Centre2Animal chiropractic? Yes! It’s a natural therapy which is used alongside veterinary care. Much in the same way as with people, animal chiropractic deals with the musculo-skeletal system, primarily the spine and the relationship of the spine with the nervous system. It is used to treat various problems, most commonly pain in the back, neck and limbs, abnormal posture and discomfort during movement.

Our pets often have long periods of inactivity, when we are out at work, followed by bursts of energetic activity, when we play with them or take them out for walks. We have bred them to develop certain body shapes which are different to how they evolved naturally and we walk them on leads and harnesses, which sometimes they pull against.
We are also guilty of overfeeding them, and some are naughty and go off chasing rabbits, jumping fences and squeezing under gates. And of course as they get older they can get wear and tear to their joints.

Chiropractic adjustments are short rapid thrusts to the joints which restore movement and alleviate pain, allowing the body to return to its natural balanced state. The aim is to return each joint of the spine or limbs to its full range of motion according to the animal’s natural conformation. Animals usually enjoy their treatments and will often stretch, roll, yawn or give themselves a shake after they have been adjusted.

Chiropractic for people is based at 69 East Street, Bridport, DT6 3LB. Chiropractic for animals is based at Haydon Veterinary Centre, Gore Cross Business Park, Bridport, DT6 3UX.

As of June 2001 the term ‘chiropractor’ is protected by law – anyone referring to themselves as a chiropractor has to be registered with the General Chiropractic Council, who can also provide details of registered chiropractors. Dr. Evelyne O’Hare is Bridport’s local, fully registered chiropractor for both people and animals so you can be assured that you and your pets will be in safe hands! Literally!
