Tattoos are, like many art forms, subject to heavy debate and wide opinions. As an avid fan, and collector of body art, my opinion is clear; but here is one thing that cannot be denied, is when tattooing is done properly, there’s no denying the artistic beauty of them. Tattoos are a way of displaying personality, quite literally wearing ‘your heart on your sleeve’. Look carefully and Bridport is full of colourful characters, and with our history of art and music, it was about time we got our own tattoo studio. After over a year of success, Tattoo Magic Too, Bridport has now been taken over full time by established Bridport artist Phil Gibbs. under the new name of Stand Proud Tattoo.
Offering a clean, hygienic and sterile environment, and producing some amazing work (some of which I proudly own), Stand Proud is a haven for all body art enthusiasts. For anyone looking for something small and delicate, or a huge statement piece, the guys at Stand Proud are happy to help, welcoming all customers new and old. Phil is the resident artist, with regular guest spots by Tattoo Magic, Weymouth artists Paul O’Connor and John O’Connor; meaning there is always an artist to suit everyone’s needs.
They have thousands of ideas and references lining the walls and filling folders, but they are more than happy to help with something a little more personal, or just something completely different; offering custom tattoo design. Whatever your opinion on the subject, the fact that someone is willing to step up to the plate, and open a business despite the tough times, whilst embracing the individuality of the people of Bridport, should be admired.
