Stompin’ Dave’s makes his debut headline performance at Dorchester Arts Centre with a concert of Country Blues on Sunday 15th April. Best known round these parts for his mad cap hillbilly flatfooting, the last few years Stompin Dave has in fact been making some serious waves on the UK ’s blues scene. Joined by the award winning bluesman from The Producers, Dave Saunders, this concert will give Stompin’ Dave the chance to indulge his first love – acoustic blues.
The release of the duos 2010 release Country Blues CD, Stompin’ Dave’s seventh disc in the blues genre since 2006 harvested excellent reviews from Blues Matters!, Maverick Magazine and Blues In Britain. Last year they performed at one of largest blues festivals in the UK The Ealing Blues Festival and they also earned an unprecedented third consecutive invitation to The Boogaloo Blues Festival. “If you get a chance to see these guys you must grab it with both hands.” Blues in Britain.
Dave who’s been described as “One of the world’s greatest performers” by Maverick Magazine has been very active the past ten years working across the South of the UK and beyond. He has performed at Glastonbury Festival, The Great Dorset Steam Fair and the Tolpuddle Martyrs Festival to name but a few. Winner of the FOAOTMAD old-time banjo contest 2011. This summer Dave gained a rave review from the Daily Telegraph “a master…a formidable musician and a true original.”
