BLUEGRASS BONANZA
FRIDAY 6TH MAY
Bridport’s contest winning banjoist Stompin’ Dave brings another night of top music in the form of a real hoedown with a “Good ol’Bluesgrass Night” in the company of The Thunderbridge Bluegrass Boys, The Carrivick Sisters and Stompin Dave himself.
Headliners Thunderbridge, who have been together now seven years, are seen as one of the most exciting and innovative bands on the circuit. As well as playing songs such as Man of Constant Sorrow and Copperhead Road, they perform they own material that transports you from straight from West Dorset to West Virginia.
Joining the Boys are the girls, The Carrivick Sisters to be precise. Twins Laura and Charlotte Carrivick are from South Devon and as well as playing a variety of bluegrass instruments with vocal harmonies, are both songwriters. Although their background is in bluegrass, their music has a strong folk influence which is evident in their original songs, many of which are inspired by their local landscape and stories.
