On Friday 2nd December from 9pm Beach & Barnicott is to present an evening of “polished nuggets of pop gold” written and performed by the extraordinary Ergo Phizmiz.
Ergo Phizmiz has been described by Tom Ravenscroft as ‘the Emperor of Music’, by the Clash magazine as ‘bloody marvellous’ and by Sound Projector ‘as a truly English original who should be cherished as such’.
His work ranges from pop music, opera, radio art, puppet theatre, film scores, sound installation, electro music and sound-poetry.
Defiantly single-minded and uncategorisable he has produced radio programmes for Radio stations all over the world including Radio 3 and BBC 6 music.
His operas have been performed internationally and he has recently been nominated by the Arts Foundation Opera Composition Fellowship.
He has his own netlabel Chinstrap, releasing music by friends and collaborators, and has produced a wide range of visual arts in film, installations and collages.
He will be performing a series of acoustic and toy instrument cover versions of pop history from the Velvet Underground, the Aphex Twin, Beyonce, The Prodigy and 1990s Club Classics.
This will be a truly phenomenal evening from a man with a phenomenal talent likely to go down in the annals of history.
