Indian Bonfire Weekend — inspired by Diwali on November 7th & 8th at Monkton Wyld Court. £98 per person for both days or £55 for Saturday (including lunch, dinner and 2 creative workshops) & £45 for Sunday (including lunch, a cooking workshop, and 2 arts activities).
This creative hands-on multi-cultural weekend involves everyone in the party: by day we’ll decorate the Court with traditional rice-flour designs (rangoli) and learn how to make delicious Indian dinners and desserts; by night we’ll light up the grounds with traditional clay lamps (diyas) and hand-made paper lanterns. In between enjoy ragas, meditation and award-winning Indian cinema.
Saturday’s after-dark procession with garlanded cows culminates at a bonfire to rival all bonfires on this Bonfire Night Weekend.
Gill Barron paints in acrylics and will be unveiling a new triptych inspired by her years criss-crossing India. Kumar (officially Sivalingam Vasanthakumar) of Insider Tours will lead us on a culinary journey through South Indian cuisine. Simon Fairlie, small-holder and cheese-maker, will delight us with his garlanded Jersey cows and a selection of Indian sweets made from their milk.
