Award-winning sitar player Ricky Romain will perform in Bridport Arts Centre this Saturday night, to mark the end of his popular exhibition of paintings ‘Marking Injustice’.
The recital of Indian music will celebrate the culmination of Ricky’s seven-week show, in which he’s collaborated with the artist Heather Fallows and the Bridport-based filmmaker Robert Golden to highlight issues relating to human rights and democracy.
Ricky, who lives in Axminster, won last year’s MTM South West Asian and Ethnic Minorities Awards for best singer/solo/group, for performances in local duo Samswara.
On Saturday night he’ll be appearing with the table player Jonathan Leadbetter.
The aim is to provide a fitting ending for a multi-media exhibition that has highlighted the power of the arts to manifest human empathy and compassion.
The Allsop Gallery opens at 7pm; the performance will start at 8pm. Tickets cost £10 (£7 concessions) from Bridport Arts Centre. The price includes light refreshments.
