Tangomotion Hits Bridport

Travel back to 1930s Buenos Aires and experience South America’s most sensual import on Friday 14 December, 8pm at Bridport Arts Centre.

From virtuoso displays of traditional tango dance in stunning costume to the exquisite tango songs of 1930s Buenos Aires and the powerful nuevo tango music of Astor Piazzolla, Tangomotion is a breathtaking journey into the heart of Argentinian Tango.

Tangomotion features two or four of the world’s leading tango dancers (Giraldo Escobar and Maria Tsiatsiani, Leandro Palou and Romina Godoy), plus live music from Tango Siempre and the outstanding Argentinean singer Guillermo Rozenthuler.

The Tangomotion musicians and dancers have previously appeared in the hit West-End show Midnight Tango (with Strictly Stars Vincent Simone and Flavia Cacace), BBC Strictly Come Dancing, Tango Por Dos, the Channel 4 film ‘Dance’, Sally Potter’s Covent Garden production of Carmen and Madonna’s film Evita.

The company have travelled extensively at Arts Centres and Music Halls across the county receiving rave reviews about their virtuosity and precision. Keith Nimmo of the  Wiltshire Music Centre said:

“We thought that your show Tangomotion was really excellent. Both the musicians and dancers were of superb quality and it looked and sounded wonderful. The musical material was powerfully evocative of the whole tango tradition yet varied and interesting, the singer was completely authentic and the dancers were simply a marvel to watch – not only their amazing virtuosity and precision, but also the way they – all of you in fact – captured and so powerfully conveyed the Latin spirit of it all!”

“intense, epic and beautiful”
