This Friday 13th June at Beach & Barnicott
Introduced to Bridport by Jesse Upton the outstanding Amy Mayes Band is back in town. Funk, Soul and Motown will lift the roof at Beach & Barnicott this Friday.
Amy’s passion for singing started at an early age but it was when she first heard Janis Joplin’s album ‘Cheap Thrills’, in her late teens that inspired her to get involved with the live music scene and try her hand at fronting a blues band with fellow music students from Weymouth College.
Along with this short lived but fun experience of listening and performing with talented and accomplished local musicians and her Classical singing studies at College, Amy decided singing was the way forward for her.
After many years touring the country she has returned to Dorset and teamed up with her old musical counterparts. This Weymouth based line up consists of some top notch musicians including Grant Day, Chris Page, Steve Rosssant and Tim Wheeler.
The band start at 9pm this Friday and entry is free.
