Enter The Topsy Turvey World Of The Owl And The Pussycat at Bridport Arts Centre
A piggy wig with a twinkle in his eye, an evangelical turkey and the strangest tree you’ll ever see are just some of the intriguing characters you’ll meet in the topsy turvey world of The Owl And The Pussycat.
This retelling of Edward Lear’s classic poem is presented by Hiccup Theatre and features an array of enchanting puppets, live music, silly songs and magical storytelling.
Hiccup Theatre is a new children’s theatre company headed by acclaimed composer and performer Ivan Stott. This exciting company creates bold and visually striking work for children and families with an emphasis on interplay between music, storytelling and physical theatre.
Speaking about the production, Ivan said: “This wonderful nonsense poem reflects Hiccup’s playfulness and childlike view of the world. It speaks to the imagination of children and allows Hiccup’s desire to put music at the heart of the work both due to the lyrical nature of the poem and the central character who „sang to a small guitar‟.
“It is a play about difference and how two characters from very different backgrounds, in fact species, can find harmony and even love. It requires versatility. Our performers are all actor-musicians, skilled puppeteers and understand how necessary it is to not patronise our young audience but to live up to their imaginative expectations.”
The show starts at 2pm on Friday 3rd June.
