Three Cane Whale is a multi-instrumental acoustic trio based in Bristol, UK, featuring members of Spiro, Get The Blessing and the Fleur Darkin Ensemble. New album Holts and Hovers, recorded live in 20 different locations, is now available from Amazon and iTunes etc.
Three Cane Whale is composed of Alex Vann – mandolin, bowed psaltery music box, zither, banjo and concertina; Peter Judge – trumpet, harmonium, lyre, glockenspiel, dulcetone and rotary valve tenor horn; Paul Bradley -acoustic guitar and miniature harp.
Alex Vann, mandolinist, is a member of the hugely innovative and influential band, Spiro.
Peter Judge plays trumpet for the equally highly regarded Get The Blessing, BBC jazz award winners, and for the duo, Eyebrow.
Paul Bradley is the maverick genius behind legendary Bristol band Organelles, and is currently touring as a one man live soundtrack for The Fleur Darkin Dance Company.

Tim Cumming was born in Father Hudson’s children’s home in Solihull in the West Midlands and brought up in The West Country. He has lived in London since 1982. He is a music and arts journalist principally for The Independent. He is also a highly acclaimed published poet (The Rapture published by Salt: ‘brilliant’, ‘original, dreamy, surefooted ‘), poetry performer and filmmaker (documentary on Wind and Fire for BBC amongst other films).
Tim will perform his poetry through and in between sets from the band live at Sladers Yard.
