This is a socially distanced, peaceful Black Lives Matter protest.
The intent is not to instigate friction, but to disrupt inbuilt racism by creating a visible statement that there are people in Bridport; friends, loved ones, neighbours, coworkers etc., who are vocally intolerant of racism.
Taking place on Saturday 13th June 2020 from 12:00-13:30
Mountfield Green, Bridport, DT6 3JP

People may say: “Do something real to stop racism”
This is doing something real to stop racism. The purpose of the demonstration is visible anti-racism, and education on the realities of white supremacy. This is effectively challenging the commonly, passively, held perception that Dorset (as a predominantly white space) is “safe” from the issues of institutional bias and police brutality. If demonstrations such as this one did not take place, we would not be addressing the extent of the issue, and the issue must be addressed in its entirety.
In the words of Angela Y. Davis: ‘I am no longer accepting the things I cannot change. I am changing the things I cannot accept.’
