The Friends of St Mary’s Parish Church invites everyone to their annual meeting. Chairman John Russell, said ” I want to involve more town people and businesses in preserving the medieval building in South Street, particularly now when the church has an appeal for £115,000 to repair the roof over north aisle. The church is more than a place of worship” he went on to explain, “it is part of the urban landscape, it makes a large contribution to the character of the town and is a civic focus.”
The AGM is on Thursday 22nd September, at 7.30 in the church. The programme includes a presentation about the Roof Appeal, an explanation of the work of the Friends, some homespun entertainment and refreshments.
“The Friends” is a secular charity involving town people and businesses in preserving the ancient parish church in South Street for Bridport’s heritage and townscape.
