Have you seen the funky new police website? it had so much traffic when it was launched yesterday that the site crashed. So now you know that your tax pounds are going to reduce crime by paying for webmasters and server fees.
This map shows treet-level crime and ASB in December 2010. Crimes are mapped to an anonymous point on or near the road where they occurred.

I did at least have a look, but the crime map doesn’t do anything useful for me. No idea for example of when the offences occurred – could have been in 1982 for all I know.
And what confidence can you have when you look at the official Police website on 1st March and see that their next event locally is “Meet your local officers. 1st January 2011” ??
