Bridport Peace and Justice Group presents a talk and film next Monday June 29.
Eyes Open Gaza is a 20 minute film about the Dove & Dolphin voyage of the small ship MV Barbra, from Torquay to the Mediterranean port of Ashdod, to delivering 50 tons of essential foodstuffs to starving children in Gaza. The £70,000 cost of the mercy ship mission was paid by Devon medic Dr David Halpin and his wife Sue, a nurse, from savings (they sold their house) and over £20,000 of donations from the public paid for the food.
It will be followed by a talk by Dr Halpin about the voyage, and his most recent experience in the yacht Dignity, which was rammed by Israeli gunboats while on another mercy mission to Gaza. Dr Halpin will also talk about “the situation of the poorest families in Gaza, often overlooked by the international geo-political discussions”.
