Bushcraft is the art of living well in any natural environment- uncovering the ancient skills and wisdom of our ancestors, slowing down and celebrating our place within Nature.
In this season of blazing bluebells and fresh green growth, DORSET FOREST SCHOOL is proud to partner with Down to Earth Bushcraft to offer a one day introductory course for adults on Sunday 20th May 2012.
Our venue is the beautiful mixed woodland of Thorncombe Woods, just outside Dorchester and on the doorstep of Thomas Hardy’s cottage. The day will run from 11am to 5pm with a flexible approach to the teaching matter that will allow the interests of the group to develop freely.
Subjects we are likely to cover will be wild plants and trees and their edible and medicinal uses, fire lighting techniques (including correct wood and tinder selection) fire by friction and basic fire lays and some basic animal tracking techniques.
To ensure a quality experience, the group will be limited to a maximum of ten so book soon to avoid disappointment. No experience is necessary although a basic level of fitness is required. Participants will need a packed lunch and plenty of fluids.
Down to Earth Bushcraft is run by Will Newitt a fully qualified bushcraft instructor to NCFE level 3. Will has a wide knowledge and enthusiasm for all things bushcrafty and a passion for sharing this forgotten knowledge with others.
To reserve a place, please email dorsetforestschool@gmail.com, then to confirm the booking please send a cheque for £30 made payable to Dorset Forest School CIC to the address specified.
