Volunteers are needed to help clean Dorset’s beaches next weekend. Dorset County Council’s ranger service is calling on people who love the county’s coastline to join them for the 2011 Great Dorset Beach Clean on Sunday, April 17.
Now in its 23rd year the Great Dorset Beach Clean not only clears the beaches ready for the summer months, but raises awareness of the problems of coastal pollution.
Last year, nearly 800 volunteers, including more than 100 children, collected 820 bags full of rubbish as well as many larger items from Dorset’s beaches.
