At Last, Kettlercise® is here. After being lauched a couple of years ago as a group fitness concept, Kettlercise has featured in a range of fitness magazines, most recently, the March/April edition of Slimming World, and the classes have gone from strength to strength around the country.
What is Kettlercise?
Many people will be familiar with the kettlebell as a piece of resistance training equipment. They comprise of what looks like a steel ball with a handle and come in a range of weights from 2kg up to over 40kg. Kettlercise uses low weights due to the nature of the classes. A class consists of a basic warm-up, kettlebell specific warm-up, then 37 exercises, each of a minutes duration. The session provides a total body workout and is a great fat burning exercise, improves core stability, as well as producing great muscle tone and muscular endurance. The end of the session involves a cool down and post workout stretches.
Kettlercise instructor Steve Reed is a diploma qualified personal trainer, who, after many years in the fire service and a move to Australia in 2005, returned to the UK and chose Bridport as a great place to live with his family. A committed exercise professional, Kettlercise was a natural progression for Steve, who had used kettlebells for his own training for many years. Taking the instructors course with the UK Register Of Kettlebell Professionals was a fun and demanding course. His success has made Steve one of the only qualified and certificated Kettlercise instructors in Dorset. He is passionate about spreading Kettlercise to anyone who wants to learn this amazing training system.
Kettlercise has really hit the headlines after featuring in the health and fitness press, and class participants are seeing amazing body transformations, as well as enjoying the fun and social aspect that group training offers. To date, around 85% of attendees are female, but men are welcome and there are a range of kettlebell weights to suit all levels of fitness.
