PIG TARTS

Val Temple from Sargeant Bun Bakery in Weymouth has come under fire from jobsworth trading standards officials this week, apparently her sugar marizipan confections contained no pork and her robin cakes contain no red breasted birds at all. Well BridportRadio's poet laureate Ma Baker will sum up this ridiculous affair for you…

The Worlds Gone Mad

It's been going on for years now –  Our world going slightly mad
But when I read about the 'Pig Tart' saga, I thought now it's got really bad.

Surely Trading Standards have more urgent matters for their attention
Than Sargeant Buns little piggy treats and others I've yet to mention
Now if you look at it their way – How many sheperds should there be in a pie?
Or cottages or fishermen – Should we check before we buy?

What should be a treat to cheer you – This pink piggy with his sugar grin
Has got those officials all in a flap – 'cause there's no pork within
But do we expect to find any? I'm sure we're not all that thick
Now mr Trading Standards Officer – What about Spotted Dick?

  1. I could not find any buiding materials in my cottage pie, nor deceased monarch or marine invertebrate in my victoria sponge. As for spotted dick, no chance! There was no vegetarian in my veggie lasagne either. There seemed to be no lakeland rock or soil in my cumberland sausage, nor fens in my linconshire sausage.
