Following the hugely successful ‘Gig for a Gig’ event last year, with a raucous evening of Sea Shanty songs at Beach & Barnicott, we offer another chance to see the talented Slipstream and JJ Pig.
Slipstream is the all female cappella group singing their own mix of old and new songs in unaccompanied harmony from their CD ‘A toe in the water’. Dovetailing neatly with all male singing group JJ Pig
J J Pig are six friends from Uplyme fronted by Ian Thompson, who sing traditional songs together.
“We are the ideal antidote to today’s manufactured plastic pop – real men, singing real songs. We’re not perfect singers, but we do it purely for the hell of it and we like to think that our enthusiasm and love of the songs makes up for any lack of refinement.
Some of the songs we sing you will know, some will be less familiar, but whatever the material, we like to give it our own unique interpretation.
Above all, we want to bring back the joy of singing. Real blokes, real songs, real fun!”
