Pam Middlemast has climbed to the top of Africa’s highest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro, to say thank you. Two years ago her husband Paul suffered a heart attack that needed triple by-pass surgery.
Pam who, with Paul, runs the Three Horseshoes pub in Burton Bradstock, was so grateful for the support they received from Wessex Heartbeat that she wanted to give something back to the charity, she told the monthly meeting of Bridport & District University of the Third Age (U3A) held at Bridport United Church.
In February 2011 she completed a trek to the top of the 5,895 metre high mountain and came back down again with one blister on her toe and £4,000 for Wessex Heartbeat.
