Funding for Bridport FM

Bridport FM, the community radio project being run by Bridport Arts Centre in partnership with Windrose Rural Media Trust, has received a boost in the form of a £1500 grant from the Co-operative Membership Community Fund. The grant will be used to fund free training sessions to support members of the community to make their own radio programmes.  The cheque was presented by Paul Kimber, Chair of Wilts and Dorset Co-operative Area Committee to Art Centre Director Polly Gifford in the gallery, with a little help from Kitty who was visiting that day.

Kate Wilson the Arts Centre’s Learning Coordinator said, ‘We are thrilled to be awarded this funding from the Co-operative Membership Community Fund. It means we can offer more people the opportunity to be involved in this exciting project. ‘

The fund supports groups that carry out positive work in the community that support the Co-operative’s values and principles and provide a good long-term benefit.

The radio programme making will run throughout the autumn and winter at the Arts Centre with full training being provided for anyone interested in radio and learning how to make a programme of their own.  No experience is necessary. All the programmes made will be broadcast on Bridport FM next March when the Arts Centre will host a temporary radio station for one week.

If you have an idea for a programme or would just like to learn how to use the equipment or conduct an interview, please get in touch with Kate Wilson on 01308 427 183 or kate@bridport-arts.com
