BAC Spring Programme

Kicking off the season of theatre is Icarus Theatre, who will be performing Romeo and Juliet (23 January). They are lauded as one of the UKs most fearless and dynamic young companies and will be telling Shakespeare’s classic in a punchy and vibrant way. This will be followed by the chilling performance ‘Hitler Alone’ by Paul Webster (1 February), he will explore Hilter’s last hour in a show that has toured nationally to much acclaim.

The Crick Crack Club will perform Grimm’s fairytales for grownups on 8 February with ‘The Three Snakes Leaves’. The spellbinding show is a combination of storytelling and theatre, shot through with evocative music. Performers’ Hugh Lupton, Ben Haggarty and Sally Pomme are true masters of their art and this is the performance that proves it!

On 22 February the Arts Centre will family favourite stage ‘Farm Boy’, the compelling sequal to War Horse by Michael Morpurgo. Other highlights include Oscar Wildes The Importance of Being Earnest by London Theatre Company (7 March), the Company who recently staged a magical performance on Equus and Children’s favourite The Owl Who was Afraid of the Dark (6 April).

Musical Highlights include Eve Loiseau singing the songs of Edith Piaf in a romantic Valentines Special (16 February), the world premier of Gargantua – an opera created by Ergo Phizmiz (16 March), a day long silent disco on Saturday 30 March and the return of Stompin’ Dave Allen to Bridport on Wednesday 24 April.

If you’re a fan of comedy there is plenty to keep you entertained with Russell Kane (8 April), Simon Evans (16 April) and Tom Glovers monthly Comedy Café. If your looking for tickets you are advised to book early as Milton Jones has already sold out!

There will be a special exhibition in the Marlowe Theatre by sculptor Peter Hand. His exhibition ’Repository of Dreams’ explores the human psyche and sexuality through sculpture, his work is a direct result of his personal experience of Jungian Psychology. It runs from Friday 25 January – Sunday 3 February, tickets cost £3.

Learning Manager Kate Wilson is calling out to parents to book their children on to Junior BACStage “The weekly class for children aged 8-11 years old is great fun for children who love to perform”. For further information email kate@bridport-arts.com.
