Join a Rock Choir

Do you sing in the shower or croon along to the car radio, yet have never had the confidence or opportunity to take it any further? Now you can! Singing sensation Rock Choir is starting fun, weekly sessions in Bridport, from Thursday 19th September. And local Rock Choir Leader Stacey Hobday is offering anyone interested in joining the chance to try a session for FREE.

Stacey will also be running weekly sessions in Weymouth, Dorchester and Poole.

“I’m inviting adults and teenagers in the local community to come along and sing their hearts out,” says Stacey. “We sing our own, special arrangements of feel good chart and pop songs in Rock Choir. You don’t have to read music and there are no auditions. We get invited to perform at some really exciting events and raise lots of money for charity. In 2012 alone we helped raise over £1 million.”

Rock Choir is the UK’s largest and most popular contemporary choir, with more than 16,000 members in over 250 local communities. It was started in 2005, by award-winning singer and musician Caroline Redman Lusher, who set out to create a modern, contemporary choir for adults and teenagers who love to sing.

Rock Choir welcomes everyone, and its uplifting ethos of fun, friendship and community spirit is a big part of its attraction. It was the UK’s original amateur contemporary choir and many people still remember it being the subject of the popular three-part ITV1 documentary ‘The Choir That Rocks’. Since it started, Rock Choir has performed regularly on TV, including BBC Breakfast, The One show, The Alan Titchmarsh Show and The Paul O’Grady show. It’s also released two top twenty albums, broken three Guinness World Records, and performed sell-out shows at iconic venues such as The 02, Wembley Arena and The Royal Albert Hall, as well as thousands of local shows and events.

“It’s amazing that most people who come along to try out Rock Choir are shy about singing, and only do it when they think no-one else is listening,” says Stacey. “We firmly believe anyone can sing, and the beautiful rich sound the choir makes after just a few rehearsals is incredible. As well as giving people the chance to reawaken their love of singing, being in Rock Choir is a great way to make friends, get involved in the local community, and enjoy some ‘me’ time each week. We’ve got lots of exciting shows in the pipeline too!”
