Beaminster artist Carmen Belle White’s emotional tale of loss, healing and hope is set to inspire and educate a generation of mothers to the pitfalls and possibilities of children with special needs.
Carmen, 39, who grew up in Somerset, found herself in a world of confusion with little available help after her son Harry was diagnosed with autism nearly 16 years ago.
Her inspirational story, Angels On Loan, is published by Hay House later this month (February), and is the culmination of more than ten years’ healing and a series of lost pregnancies including the death of Archie at just five days.
Carmen, who lives with son Harry, now 16, found her own healing through her inspired use of colour – as well as writing her book – but also through her love for her son, and his love for her.
It was through becoming aware of Harry’s sensitivities and needs that she understood more of her own childhood and acute sensitivity.
Book Launch
Angels On Loan is being launched privately at the Bridport Arts Centre on February 15 with a public launch planned later in the year. It will be available through Amazon and Barnes and Noble websites.
To view the artwork that helped both Carmen and Harry heal, please view her page Healing With Colour on Facebook. Her art is on sale at two Dorset galleries and commissions are available at a discounted rate for charities, schools, hospitals and hospices.
‘My attention is to raise autism awareness but it is also to help women who have experienced a miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy or lost a child full term as I have.’
