BACStage Caravan Drama
What goes on behind those frilly net curtains? What do people keep in all those clever little cupboards and drawers? Students attending the BACStage Summer School will let you know when they devise a new show based in and around a caravan.
The site specific show will centre on a caravan sited on the Bridport Arts Centre forecourt for the duration of the Summer School which runs from Monday 29 July to Friday 2 August inclusive. Led by performer, producer and director Niki McCretton, the Summer School is a week of drama workshops for 12 to 18 year olds. In this time, the students will work with Niki to create a new piece of theatre which will be premiered on Friday 2 August.
Kate Wilson the Arts Centre’s Learning Coordinator said “we are delighted Niki is running the Summer School. This is the first time we have done site-specific work at BACStage and I’m sure it will be a huge amount of fun. Its a real challenge to create a new play from scratch in such a short time, but the BACStagers are always full of inspiring ideas – I’m sure they will come up with something amazing!”
Places are still available on the course and tickets cost £65 for the week – thanks to a grant received from the Bridport Community Car Boot grant scheme. The workshops run from 10.30am to 4pm daily and bookings can be made via the Box Office on 01308 424 204 (10am to 3pm Tues to Fri and 10am to 4pm Saturdays) or online at www.bridport-arts.com
