Bed & Breakfast

On Saturday 1 October Bridport Arts Centre will welcome Hot Ice Theatre who will present Bed & Breakfast in the intimate setting of the Arts Centre Café. The tragic-comic monologue explores the steamy underside of rural idyl.

As a guest at Hive Corner, Upper Crevice’s finest (and only) bed & breakfast you will meet Carol Carpenter – the newly widowed hostess. She loves to talk. But as Carol’s stories of local life, local people, and her lengthy marriage unfolds over 50 minutes you may suspect that things in Upper Crevice are not as comfortably cosy as first they seem.

“I loved this show, it made me laugh throughout and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Markwick’s monologue about being an ageing B&B owner in a claustrophobic rural village completely held my attention and, for someone who has grown up in the countryside, there were some very recognisable characters. Others in the audience clearly felt the same and I left having enjoyed watching a simple, well-made piece of theatre”. A Younger Theatre

Programme Manager Margie Barbour commented “This well crafted, atmospheric humorous monologue is perfect for the intimate Arts Centre Café. It’s a gentle story with a twist that will delight audiences
