Get creative and Go Global this summer with Artsreach. Schools are breaking up, summer holidays are just around the corner. Artsreach is continuing to run a summer programme of creative activities for young people across rural Dorset, and this summer will be a sizzling hot feast of exciting workshops on a global theme.
There’s something for everyone between the ages of 2 and 16, whether you’re into dance, drama, music, cookery, crafts, storytelling, or whether you just want to try out something new this summer! This is a fantastic opportunity to work with professional practicing artists, on your doorstep, at very affordable cost (all the workshops are £10 or less).
Try your hand at Brazilian samba drumming with Felix Gibbons; Capoeira (an Afro-Brazilian art form blending martial arts, games, dance and music) with Tiago Gambogi; making and playing didgeridoos with Ralf Dorrell, making wooden games played by Vikings, or creating global sounds, with Karen Hansen in her woodworking workshops; Indian tie-dyeing and resist printing with Lal Hitchcock; creative cooking in French, Italian or British cookery classes with Jane Luxmoore; create a play in a day in Tony Horitz’ ‘Fiesta Mexicana!’, or join Claire Camble Hutchins on her ever popular singing and dancing workshops. That’s just a taster – for the full programme see the Artsreach website: www.artsreach.co.uk or call 01305 269512 for a copy.
With support from the Valentine Trust, Artsreach has been able to extend the summer workshop programme to include rural venues in Purbeck, as well as revisiting village venues in West, North and East Dorset. Early booking for these workshops is advisable, as they tend to book up quickly.
So if you’re staying at home this summer, get creative and Go Global!
