Creative capers this summer for youngsters of Dorset
For some ten years Artsreach has been running a workshop programme for young people living in rural Dorset, providing creative activities for them during the summer holidays. This summer will be no exception with a programme of twenty-four fantastic workshops lined up!
This summer’s exciting range of Artsreach workshops include crafts, music, dance, theatre, storytelling, photography and more. Some are tailored to as young as 3 year-olds; some are for ages 14+… and all the ages in between!
Local potter Jo Burnell will be exploring basic clay hand-building techniques in her workshop ‘Go Potty with Clay’. Peter Rush, a highly talented artist will be leading a workshop in wire and paper modelling and another workshop on making insects and bugs from plastic cutlery. Artist-educator Tony Horitz will recount spooky stories and legends of Dorset to be acted out and Artsreach’s photographer-in-residence Ben Osborne will lead photography workshops for young people aged 14+. This is just a taster – take a look at the Artsreach website www.artsreach.co.uk for the full list of opportunities on offer for young people this summer.
With this variety of brilliant and talented workshop leaders who inspire young people, Artsreach promotes the workshops via their established network of volunteers who host the workshops in village halls and other community venues (such as The Exchange in Sturminster Newton). Artsreach aims to keep the workshops as affordable as possible and have received grants from The Valentine Trust as well as West Dorset DC to enable this. Please note it is always worth booking well ahead as the workshops have limited places and often sell out. For more information please call Artsreach: 01305 269512.
